HE/HIM
Stephen Oelke is a Licensed Professional Counselor (IL License No. 178.019230) and Registered Art Therapist. Stephen graduated from Adler University with a Masters in Counseling and Art Therapy with an extensive background in community mental health. He has experience working with adults of all ages, consensual non-monogamy, and kink community with a wide range of concerns. Stephen practices expressive arts, narrative, parts work, and somatic approaches in his treatment with an emphasis on reducing harm while remaining trauma-informed. He understands that beginning your healing journey can be difficult, but welcomes you to be brave and extend compassion to yourself.
As a queer clinician himself, Stephen has a desire to support other members of the LGBTQ+ community. Drawing from personal and professional experience, he can understand the struggle it can be to find a therapist with shared identity. Stephen works with a variety of clients and enjoys addressing anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, grief, substance use recovery, and self-esteem and self-worth issues.
In his free time, Stephen enjoys creating artwork (needlework, collage, graphic design) while drawing inspiration from lived experience. He also enjoys spending time with his community and nature both in Chicago and around the world.
